Nathan is the senior behaviourist and founder of The Dog
Trainers. For the last 10 years, his team has helped 5000+ dogs to be calmer and more confident in the human world.
Our company is a highly accredited, if not the most accredited dog training company in the UK, including with regulatory bodies ABTC and UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter. Our main goal is to strengthen the dog-human relationship, using force free, ethical methods and help dogs and humans coexist.
We have 5 highly qualified Canine Behaviourists with natural abilities to communicate with dogs and degree level qualifications in related fields. We also have 2 qualified and accredited dog trainers who have amazing knowledge and skill, that can overcome most training issues, quickly and easily.

How Does It All Work?
Step 1️⃣
Selecting Your Package and Payment Plan
Begin your journey by choosing the package that best suits your dog's needs and your personal circumstances.
Each package is designed to address specific behavioural issues and comes with different durations and levels of support.
After selecting the appropriate package, you'll be guided through a straightforward payment process.
Your first payment initiates the process, setting the stage for a transformative experience for both you and your dog.
Step 2️⃣
Scheduling Your Initial Session and Behaviour Assessment
Once your payment is processed, you'll have the opportunity to choose a date and time for your first session. This step is crucial as it marks the beginning of your personalised behaviour programme.
Along with scheduling, you'll be asked to complete a detailed behaviour intake form. This form is designed to provide the trainer with essential information about your dog's history, current behaviour, and any specific challenges you're facing. This in-depth understanding allows the behaviourist to tailor the sessions to your dog's unique needs.
Step 3️⃣
Home Visit for the First Training Session
The journey truly begins with the behaviourists first visit to your home. This session is not just about meeting your dog but also about establishing a connection with you, the owner. The behaviourist will observe your dog in its familiar environment, which is crucial for assessing behaviour accurately.
This session sets the foundation for the subsequent training and behaviour modification plan. It's an opportunity for you and your dog to get comfortable with the behaviourist and for the behaviourist to start formulating a customised approach that will guide you through the rest of the programme.

Where Will the Training Sessions Take Place
Our trainers provide private lessons or courses (‘Program’) for you and your dog. These sessions can take place at your home, another appropriate location agreed upon by both parties, or in one of our hired venues. The choice of location is designed to suit the specific needs of the training program and ensure the comfort of your dog.
Purpose and Guarantees of the Training and Behaviour Modification
The aim of our training is to adjust your dog's behaviour and teach them new skills, while also instructing you on how to train and work with your dog effectively. It's important to understand that while our trainers take all appropriate measures to achieve training and behaviour goals, we cannot guarantee specific results. The effectiveness of training can be influenced by various factors, including your dog's individual characteristics and your commitment to the training process.
Following Trainers' Advice
To achieve the best results, it's crucial that you follow the instructions and advice provided by our trainers. This includes working with your dog daily and consistently reinforcing the desired behaviours. Your active participation and dedication are key to the success of the training program.
Equipment
Our trainers will provide or advise you on the necessary equipment for the training sessions. You are expected to use this equipment strictly as instructed by the trainers to ensure both effectiveness and safety during training sessions.
WhatsApp/Email Support Fair Use Policy
In our 1:1 training packages, we offer WhatsApp/Email support to assist with training-related queries, feedback on training videos, and general questions. This service is client-led, meaning you should initiate contact as needed. Responses may take up to 72 hours, and the support is focused on training and behaviour issues specific to our sessions. We encourage sharing training videos (up to 3 minutes) for targeted feedback. To ensure equitable access for all clients, we operate on a fair usage basis and excessive use may lead to service review. Our team maintains the right to guide conversations relevantly and professionally, and we expect respectful communication from all clients. This service is not for proactive follow-up by our team, and inappropriate use may result in service termination. By using this service, you agree to adhere to these fair use guidelines, ensuring effective and fair support for all clients.
Social Media and Photos/Videos
We may take photos and videos of your dog during training sessions for use in media and advertising. These materials may be featured on various platforms, including our website, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media channels.
1 to 1 Packages Course Fees and Cancellation Policy
For our one-to-one packages, you have the flexibility to cancel within 14 days of booking, provided that your first appointment isn't scheduled within 7 days of the cancellation. In such cases, the full package fee will be refunded. If you cancel after 14 days of booking or within 7 days of your first consultation, the cost of the first consultation will be forfeited in full, as advertised on our website at the time, without the package discount.
Should you need to change an appointment, requests must be made at least 7 days prior to the scheduled session. Cancellations within 7 days of an appointment will mean that no replacement session will be offered.
After the first session, any requests for refunds will be calculated based on the full cost of the sessions already used, without the package discount. For example, if you sign up for a 6-session package at £695 and request a refund after 2 sessions, assuming you cancel future sessions with at least 7 days' notice, you will be charged the full standalone price for those 2 sessions. The initial session costs £220 as a standalone session, and each follow-up session costs £150. Therefore, for 2 sessions, you would be charged £220 + £150 = £370. Consequently, you would receive a refund of £695 - £370 = £325. Full price lists and details are available on our website.
Booking Responsibility and Time Frames
As a client, it is your responsibility to schedule your training sessions through our online calendar system. It is imperative that you book at least one training session per month. This requirement is essential to maintain consistent progress and effective training outcomes for your dog.
Please be aware that if you do not book a session within a month, you will forfeit that month's session. In such cases, you are not eligible for a refund for the unbooked session. This policy ensures that the training program maintains its momentum and effectiveness, and it underscores the importance of regular, consistent training sessions for the best possible results in your dog's behaviour and training journey.
Liability
Our trainers are not liable for any damage or injury caused by your dog during or after the term of this agreement. You agree to indemnify the trainers against any resulting claims, lawsuits, costs, and expenses. Additionally, our trainers are not liable for any damage or injury caused by the equipment during or after training. You are responsible for any destruction or damage to the equipment provided by the trainers.
